Common Courtesy and Modern Times

We live in a fast-paced society that seldom slows for anyone or anything. The hustle drives us one way and the bustle drives us another driving and pushing us until we lose track of all other humans other than ourselves. Over time contact with our fellow human has severed to the point that in our narcissism makes us feel that nobody is as important as ourselves.
Today for an example I was sitting a red light just as the light turned green an ambulance came from behind with lights and sirens. I did not move as the others around did not move. A driver who was behind me paid no attention to the other ten vehicles and the ambulance. The driver laid on his horn, shot into the oncoming lane to go around the vehicles waiting on the lights.
This driver, besides making an ass of himself put the lives of the other vehicles, the ambulance, and the patients in the ambulance at a severe risk All just because the driver lost sight of the fact that the other vehicles were driven by humans, with places to go and things to just the same as he did.
I look like a serial killer. I wear black t-shirts and jeans. I have a long beard and just a bear of a man. Little kids seem to know I am harmless. More than once I have had a three or four-year-old walk up to me and start talking. The look on the parents face is great, especially the father who just shit himself a little. I always stop and talk to the kid, then to the parent trying to put them at ease. Knowing the way I look I have developed a system that seems to work. Here are the tools I use:
1. Please take deep breaths to look around and remember everyone around you is just as much a human as yourself.
2. Smile and or have a friendly word with every encounter.
3. Don't do acts of kindness for a reward, the act is its own reward.
4. Please, Thank You, I am sorry and the like should be involved in each and every human encounter.
We all live together. We all work hard. We all have problems. Don't let them drag you down
